Activities and Events
During the school year, our cadets have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of events, programs, and many other activities. Listed below are just some of the many exciting things our cadets get to do, and why we encourage everyone to enroll in AJROTC, not matter what their grade level. It's never too late to start, and whether you do one year or four, you are guaranteed to have a fun and exciting experience!
THe ANNUAL DINING OUT MILITARY BALLEvery year our cadets are invited to attend our annual Dining-Out Military Ball -- a night to look your best and have fun, while also practicing the formal military traditions of a military ball. Each cadet, along with their date, will enjoy food and dancing, while also receiving the full military ball experience.
Drill CompetitionsThroughout the school year, our Competition Drill Teams travel to several different Drill Competitions held at other high schools in our area, where our teams perform drill sequences, inspection, and give academic presentations to compete in friendly competition against other High School JROTC units, in hopes of bringing home another trophy. Our teams have won many trophies over the years for our advancement at drill, and all our unit supporters are invited to attend these competitions in order to watch and support our teams.
HOnor FlightEach year, our cadets are invited to help with the Honor Flight Program, a program that brings South Jersey Veterans to the WWII, Vietnam, and Korean War Memorials free of charge. Our cadets can volunteer to serve the Veterans breakfast in the morning, escort a veteran around the memorials, and/or serve them dinner at night upon their return to WHS. It is a great way to show a Veteran your thanks and give back to the community that every cadet should want to take part of.
Community Service OpportunitiesThroughout the year, our cadets have the opportunity to volunteer for various community service opportunities that our unit is invited to participate in. By volunteering, not only do cadets give back to their community, but the hours they put in can be used to put on their resume when applying for colleges. Doing community service with out unit is a great way to give back to our community while supporting our unit's good name.

AWARDS NIGHTAt the end of each school year, our unit holds an Awards Night in order to recognize the hard work and dedication of our cadets. All cadets, along with their friends and family are invited to attend this event to see their cadets receive awards for their involvement in the corps and various other achievements.
Field TripsEach year all current cadets are invited to go on educational field trips with our unit in order to expand our educational AFJROTC curriculum beyond the classroom. Past trips have been to places such as Battleship New Jersey, Washington D.C. and Gettysburg. All cadets are encouraged to attend these field trips!
Leadership Learning ACTIVITIES (LLA)During the summer, a handful of cadets spend a week at Fort Dix in order to learn military discipline beyond the classroom. A vigorous and challenging experience, cadets will undergo tests of physical and mental endurance, along with military discipline, and the ability to work as a team and follow order. Cadets will graduate the week of LLA with a boost in confidence and the bonds of new friendship from meeting new people from other schools. Learn more on our LLA Experience Page.
School EventsLike community service, our cadets can volunteer to help with school events as well, such as Haunted Halloween, Pep Rallies, October Fest, Back to School Night, Santa Saturday and other events like school plays and musicals. Our cadets are held to a higher standard and are expected to provide excellence in all we do, which means our cadets are requested to help out with many activities. And all school events that cadet participate in also count towards community service hours.
